Protect and Preserve(SLJ)

Aloha Everybody welcome back to my blog.
Did you know Sir David Attenborough is a famous TV presenter from England who loves nature and the natural world. He has spent his career filming documentaries about the planet and working hard to protect it. When Sir David was asked in an interview to reflect on all that he had learned and to imagine that he had suddenly been given the power to save 10 animals and plants from disappearing forever. After thinking about the question, he listed these 10 species who he wanted to save.
Let’s imagine that you had the same power and that you could save 10 species (animals or plants) from extinction. Who would you save?

Today I will list 10 species (animals or plants) that I would protect from extinction and give you a reason why I think it is important to protect them.
  • Sumatran tiger
  • Baiji dolphins
  • Ploughshare tortoise
  • Iberian lynx
  • Sumatran Rhino
  • Greater Bamboo Lemur
  • Amur Leopard
  • Hula painted Frog
  • Axolotl
  • Yangtze Giant soft-shell turtle
I think it is important to protect them, because first they might go in to extinction fast. Then the future generation won't be able to have the opportunity to see them in real life and I think that every living thing is important and should be saved first before it gets extinct.

Would you want to protect these animals?

Goodbye I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post please leave a comment below and like my blog thank you.

  1. Aloha Talisa,

Some of the animals you have chosen to save from extinction have very unique names! Did you know that the angonoka tortoise is an endangered species of tortoise endemic to Madagascar? Madagascar is a country in East Africa and there is also an animated movie called Madagascar! Have you watched this animation before? (It is about animals going on a spontaneous journey outside the zoo).

I really liked your reasoning for why you want to protect these animals. One of my biggest hope is to have all living creatures free from danger because they deserve to live. It is heartbreaking to see some species slowly become extinct. Earth should be a shared home and we should all work together to save these beautiful creatures! Do you have a favourite animal from your list?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and opinions Talisa :-)

  2. p.s. Since you have already fired through the program, you should take your time to think about your reasons for each type of animal. Think about questions such as:

-Why did you choose this animal to be on your top 10?
-Why do you think it is important to protect this animal?

Looking forward to hearing back from ya!
