Pollution (SLJ)

Hello Everyone,
Have you thought about the air we breath?

What if we cannot breath air again because it is unhealthy for us?

This is called air pollution.

I have watched a video about air pollution and here to tell what I have learned from it.

Air pollution contains chemicals and particles that can cause serious health in the environment. Air pollution is caused from things like volcano eruptions and fires. Some air pollution are caused by nature like volcanoes and gases. But the most air pollution comes from human activities like energy use like coal fires.
There are different types of air pollution made by humans. When we burn fossil fuels to reduce energy they release greenhouse gasses into the air like; Carbon dioxide, methane,Nitrous oxide and flourinated gasses. These gasses traps heat from the sun at earths atmosphere leading to a high temperature. This creates a cycle where air pollution contributes to climate change and climate change makes high temperature. The other cause is from burning fossil fuels in factories, driving cars, coal burning fireplace which make gases that are toxic and are not good for the Earth's atmosphere.
Air pollution not only will it be bad for our health, it is also bad for our home, Earth. It can cause global warming that leads to high temperature and climate change.

What will you do to help stop air pollution?
What ways can we stop global warming.

I think by doing what we can like walking, biking to places and not use the car. We can also try to recycle and reduce waste.

  1. Good afternoon Talisa,

You have done a fabulous job summarising all the information given on the video clip about air pollution. I like how you have talked about the different causes and effects of global warming. Isn't it pretty interesting to find out that natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions can also affect the air to a point where it can damage the environment?

I guess it is really important for us to think about the source of air pollution coming from our side (man-made factors) to think about the alternatives and solutions. I like how you have ended your summary by suggesting a few ways to reduce the process of this global phenomenon. It would be great if we could make this into a habit which will in turn benefit us and our planet. Well done on coming up with these ideas.

Do you think global warming is a serious problem? Why or why not? How did you feel after doing the research and watching the video about air pollution/global warming? I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions.

    Kia pai to rā,
    Susie

  2. Hi Susie,

Yes, I think global warming is actually a serious problem. Because we won't be able to handle the heat like my baby brother and it causes the sea level to rise.

When the sea level rises it can cause floods in some places.

My mum said that the little islands in the Pacific can be badly affected by global warming, like low-lying atoll islands because they can disappear if the sea level rises.

I feel sad for those people who live there because they are going to lose their home.

I also think we should stop global warming.

Thank you for visiting my blog.
