Lord of the forest (SLJ)

Hello readers, today I will tell you why I would want to visit the biggest tree in New Zealand. One reason why I would want too see the biggest tree in New Zealand is because it is history. Another reason I would want to see the tree is  because I want to see how humongous it is in real life. I would also want to see it so I can know what is the difference between that tree and the other trees. These are some of the reasons I came up with about why I would want to visit the biggest tree in New Zealand one day.

Here is a picture of the tree that I found on google.

Have you seen the biggest tree in New Zealand before?

Do you want to see the biggest tree in New Zealand?

Please post a comment and think about these questions goodbye.

  2. Talofa Talisa,

My name is Susie and I will be commenting on your blogs throughout the Summer Learning Journey this year. It is great to see how you have been putting lots of time and effort into completing these activities.

I enjoyed reading about why you want to visit Tāne Mahuta, one of the largest and longest living endemic trees in NZ! I haven't seen Tāne Mahuta yet but I would love to visit the Waipoua Forest to take a picture standing right next to the tree. It would be fun to compare the size - I would probably look like a tiny insect standing next to the enormous tree.

What else do you want to find out about the tree? Let's have a think about this question wearing the shoes of a scientist. I would love to investigate how big its roots are because I want to know more about the unknown - what we cannot see! What about you?

I would love to know your thoughts. Also, what do you like to do during your summer holiday? Do you have a favourite nature spot you like to visit?

Looking forward to hearing back from you Talisa! :)

    1. Hi Susie,

Thank you for taking your time to comment on my blog. I'm happy that you enjoyed reading my blog post and you are right about the part where we would look so tiny against the enormous tree.

Thinking like a scientist I would like to find out exactly how old is the tree and what sort of difficult situation it has face all its life.

During my summer holiday, I would be spending most of my time visiting and spending time with my family.

I don't really have a favorite nature spot right now but I enjoy going to the Caroline Bay in Timaru during New Year.

What about you. Do you have a favorite nature spot?

Thank you for commenting on my blog post.

      From Talisa.

    2. Morning Talisa,

Thank you for once again sharing your thoughts and ideas with me.

Did you know that Tane Mahuta is approximately 2,000 years old? This means that if we were to read and count the age rings on this tree, it should add up to 2,000!

I do have lots of favourite nature spots up here in Auckland and one of my favourite beach is called Maori Bay. There is a walkway that leads to another beach called Muriwai beach so you should definitely make a visit when you get a chance to. I'm sure your family will love it as well. :)

Wishing you a happy Christmas and I'll talk to you soon Talisa!

      Happy blogging,
      Susie
