Weaving a Tall Tale…(SLJ)

Hello everyone,
Christmas day has gone by and now new year is approaching.

I was suppose to do this activity on Christmas day but I forgot about it. I was so busy with opening my presents and enjoying family time that I didn't have time to do it.
So here I am with the activities for Week 2 day 2 on weaving.

I got to watch a little video

Raranga Ika - How to make a simple fish out of flax

Weaving looks interesting but I am not interested in it. I find it boring and complicated. Also I have to go get flax leaves to weave with and I don't know how to cut the leave from plant and not destroy plant.

My mum told me that she use do weaving with different leaves instead of flax. She also told me that she learned it when she was young and in primary school. They used coconut leaves and pandanus leaves. weaving can be used for many things.

Do you know how to do flax weaving?

If so, what was the first thing you learnt to weave?

Thank you for reading my blog post please give me feedback I hope you had a good Christmas goodbye.

  1. Kia ora Talisa,

Great to see you are really getting into the SLJ! I have seen so many posts come up from you, ka pai!

I haven't done weaving in years, I think the last time I tried weaving may have been in Primary School! I might have to give it another try one day soon. I think I used flax to weave a flower if I am remembering correctly.
Do you think weaving a flower would be tricky?

Until next time, happy blogging :)
