Midnight zone (SLJ)

Hello everyone
Do you know how many days until it is 2019?

Can you believe it's nearly the end of 2018?

Well it isn't the end o the Summer Learning Journey so for today we will find out some interesting calculations of ow many children or adults does it take to carry a 500kg squid. I came up with some ways to calculate the answer to the question and put it in a slide. My mum also helped me out in doing the working out

Here is my working out

Did you like my answers?

Do you think they were correct?

Thank you for reading my blog post please leave a comment.

  1. Tena Koe Talisa,

I am blown away by the fact that you have put in so much time and effort into solving this probability question. Not only that you've tested lots of different methods, but you have successfully managed to put down everything on your slide. Tino pai!⭐

It is such a clever idea to take two different approaches to this problem by using addition and multiplication. I am not too sure if you've learned about this in school yet but have you ever heard of tree diagrams? Since you have a mindset of a mathematician, I though it would be worth mentioning to you. Below is a link that takes you to a website that tells you all about how it works. This system is often used when you're solving a probability question like this.

You have given me different sets of answers and they are all correct. There are multiple answers to this problem because as you've shown us, we can solve it in hundreds of different ways!

Do you enjoy problem solving? What is your favourite strand of maths at school? By strand I mean different topics such as geometry and measurement.

Kia pai to rā (have a good day),
    Susie :D

To support my learning I ask you to comment as follows:
1. Something positive - something you like about what I have shared.
2. Thoughtful - A sentence to let us know you actually read/watched or listened to what I had to say
3. Something thoughtful - how have you connected with my learning? Give me some ideas for next time or ask me a question.
