Great Barrier Reef (SLJ)

 Hello guys,

Happy New year!!!!!

Sorry for not doing this summer learning journey activity last week Friday, so I did it today.

Have you ever seen Finding Dory or Finding Nemo? Did you know their setting were both in the Great barrier Reef?

The great barrier reef is the worlds largest reef system it is bigger than New Zealand. It is so big you can see it from outer space. Over 2 million people come to visit the great barrier reef and a great place for family's and kids to see in the holidays.

Our beautiful Barrier Reef over the past 30 years, most of the bright and colourful corals has lost its colour and turned bleach. The Australian government are using 2 million dollars each year to protect the Great Barrier Reef. That is a lot of money isn't it.

Today I will list three different ideas or strategies of how to raise funds to help protect the Great Barrier Reef:

Firstly,I would ask a chocolate factory if they would help out with raising funds to help protect our coral reefs by providing chocolates with pictures of the coral reef saying save our coral reef. Then I would sell the chocolates or get my school to help sell them.

Secondly, by doing a school play about saving our coral reef and money for the tickets goes to the funds to help protect our coral reef.

Thirdly,I could ask a clothes factory if they could help out with providing the white t-shirts. I could also ask a company to provide colour dyes. Then my class will tie dye the t-shirts with a message to save our coral reef.

When everyone do their part in helping save the coral reef then we would be able to enjoy it in the future.

What ways would you fund-raise money to save our coral reef? What other ways would you do to help save it?

Thank you for reading my blog please post a comment happy new year.

  1. Hello Talisa,

These are some amazing strategies for raising funds to preserve the Great Barrier Reef. I like how you have taken the extra step to think about emerging the idea of 'saving coral reefs' into every single fund-raising activity. By making it specific to its purpose, it will help raise awareness in the community.

If I was one of the students at the school who came across a chocolate bar with a slogan that says "save our coral reef", it would probably make me think twice. You are so clever and creative to have thought of this on your own. I am truly touched by your response. Keep on being yourself because we need more individuals like you who will make a real change in this world!

Thank you for another thoughtful post,
    Susie
