math's DLO

Hi and welcome back to my blog today W.A.L.T work out discounts using fractions and percentages. I know that 50% is a percentage but as a fraction it would be half. I also know 40% is a percentage and it would be a 1/4 if it was a fraction. some of the strategies we used was skip counting, repeated addition half and half again and times table.

  2. You did good. Maybe next time it would be better if you take a short video clip showing us how you solve a math problem.

    Keep up the good work.

    1. Talisa,

      Do check your math problem.
      If 1= 100%,
      3/4= 75%,
      1/2= 50%, then
      1/4 is ??%.... or

      If 1/4 + 1/4 = 1/2 then
      1/2 dived by 2 is 1/4 so
      1/4 in percentage is therefore
      half of 50 %. :-)

  3. Good on you dear niece. Mathematics is great isn't it. Don't forget to check your work. Does 40% really is a quarter of a hundred?

Showing your work in a step by step manner will not only indicate your comprehension of Maths, but also puts every variable or equation into perspective in ascertaining the mathematical solution or answer. Like deciphering the universal language of mathematical logic.☺ Saying that, the only way to get better at Maths is by doing the exercises in the Mathematics textbook. Keep up the good work Talisa. God bless.
