Tuvalu

Talofa and welcome to my blog,

A few weeks ago we made a slide. We had to pick a country and make a slide about it. With things like it's attractions, the capital city, a daily life there stuff like that. I chose to make one about Tuvalu since my mum is from there and I have always be interested. Did you know that Tuvalu is the 4th most smallest country in the world? Anyway that is what we did.

Here is a LINK to my slide (Not finished yet)

Chinese New Year

Ni hao viewers,

Do you celebrate Chinese new year?

Chinese new year is a time to honor household and heavenly deities as well as ancestors. It was also a time to bring family together for feasting. This year is the year of the Ox. Which is kind of my year since I was born in that year.

Anyway in class we made a DLO about Chinese new year like its taboos, what they eat and some greetings. I made a slide as my DLO with Jasmine. We haven't completed it yet but here it is.

Earthquake Heroes

 Talofa Everyone,

Do you remember the 2011 earthquake?

On the 22nd in February in 2010 a 6.3 earthquake came for 10 seconds killing 185 people. Lot's of people died that day. But luckily there were local heroes and organisations who came to the rescue. Like the student volunteer army who I will be sharing with you today.

Who is the student volunteer army?

In 2010 there was a earthquake that came. After it came there was a huge mess. But Sam Johnston a boy created a Facebook called the ‘Student Base for Earthquake Clean Up’ to assist local residents with non life-saving tasks. Sam and several other leaders of other UC clubs joined together and made the Student Volunteer Army. 11,00 people helped to clean up our beautiful city in NZ.

In the 2011 earthquake in no time at all the Student Volunteer Army had 7000 to 8000 students out on the streets, going up 75,000 hours working alongside Civil Defence, the authorities and relief agencies. The will of students to work at the back-breaking tasks awed people all around New Zealand, and the world.

Do you know any earthquake heroes who maybe have been unrecognised?

My Hero

 Aloha Readers,

Do you have a hero? If so who is it?

I have a lot of hero's who I look up to. Like my dad, my older brothers, my teacher Miss Bremna and lots more. But the hero that I will be talking about is my mum. My hero is loving, compassionate, resilient, committed, trustworthy, respectful, responsible, loyal, confident and brave. The things that make her my mum is her humour, her competitiveness, her patience, her beauty and kindness. They are the attributes that make her my hero and the best mum to me. Mum is not perfect but shes the best.

Do you think my mum is a hero?

Woman Combing Her Hair (SLJ)

 Aloha Everyone,

Welcome to my first post for summer learning journey. Hope you enjoy

Today's topic is all about art. Do you like art? Do you know any famous artists? Are  you interested in having a career as an artist? No need to answer if you don't want to.

Anyway this activity like I said before is all about art. I chose a picture of a lady from this site. Then basically changed some of the colors. After that I made a DLO for you to check out. It talks about why I chose different colors then the original painting and why I chose that painting.

Presenting...

Also two separate photos

100 WC

 Konichiwa Everbody,

Doing anything for Christmas?

This week for our 100 word count we had to put in "I didin't remember putting it on". So I wrote a story about a girl called sally who couldn't the watch that her mother and father gave before they died. Then started crying and turns out it was on her wrist where the "I didin't remeber putting it on" comes in. Then she thanks god and god smiles back at her.

Here is the story

...I didn't remember putting it on..

One day sally was looking for her beautiful golden glittery watch. She woke up one morning and couldn't find it. That watch was the most valuable thing to her. Before her father and mother died they gave her a watch. So Sally looked under her bed, inside her draws and even in her auntys hair. But couldn't find it at all. Sally began to cry. The pillow was flooded with tears. Then she saw her watch on her wrist. “I didn’t remember putting it on” Sally said but she was happy and thanked god. God smiled right back at her

Cybersmart - Quality of Media

 Aloha Readers,

Today my class learned about how to tell the difference between fake sites and real sites. We watched a video to help us find out. Five ways to tell is by the URL, Looking closely at the layout, digging deeper, checking if their facts are correct and a reverse image search.

After checking out the video we had to do a true or false quiz on sites. We split into buddies to do it with but on seperate slides. There was a list of sites and we had to try find out by looking at the URL.  We could search them up too but nah for me.

By the way we moved the checks into the boxes

Here is the quiz we took

Do you think I got them correct?

Do you have any other ways to tell the differences beetween fake and real sites?

Thanks for visiting my blog feel free to comment if you want to.
