When One Number Is Near 100

Hola Readers,

In Room 10 for maths, we learned how to use the compensation stategy for addition and subtraction problems. For addition you need to take away from one side and add it to the other to make it easier. For subtraction you can add or subtract but from both have sides.

Here is the problems we were given to solve

Addition

Subtraction

Have you used this strategy before?

Do you like using this stratergy?

  1. Hello Talisa.I must admit,Maths was not my strongest subject at school. The way we learn how to work out the answer has changed over the years.
I now use this technique you have shown. It makes learning maths, for me,easier.
You have put in a great deal of work to complete.Well done.

  2. Hola Talisa,
Thank you for sharing your learning with us. You have put a lot of effort into the post and it is very informative. I enjoy maths and working with numbers. It is useful to learn and know different strategies to figure things out. What is the best strategy you like to use?
