Flying Solo Activity 1 SLJ Day 2

Hello and Welcome to my blog,

How are you doing?

Today I am starting another new activity now.

 Do you know who Jean Batten was? She is a Aviator born in Rotorua in NZ in 1909. Famous for flying solo all the way on her own from England to NZ.  

There is also a lady named Amelia Earhart. She was also a Aviator. Famous for flying alone across the Atlantic Ocean from Canada to the Northern Island.  She tried to fly around the world but unfortunately she disappeared in the Pacific Ocean and was never found.

For this activity I will be Comparing and Contrasting between these two aviators using this Diagram. Would you like to see it?

Scaling New Heights Activity 3 Day 1

Talofa'lava Kids,

How are you doing?

Today I am starting a new SLJ Activity. Can you recognise who's face is on the five dollar note? If you guessed Sir Edmond Hillary you are correct. He is known for being the first person and his sherpa to climb up to the top of Mt Everest(The Tallest Mountain it the Entire World).

Sir Edmond Hillary also did a lot of charity work. In 1960, he started the Himalayan Trust to bring safe drinking water, education and healthcare to the people of Nepal(the country where Mt Everest is located.  

For this activity I am going to choose a charity I like. I chose SPCA. SPCA is a charity that helps protect over 40,000 animals that live in New Zealand each year. For example animals that are hurt sick or abandoned. I chose SPCA because I like animals.

EOTC Week

Hello Everybody,

How are you doing today?

For 5 days the year five, sixes and maybe fours got to go do fun stuff. Instead of staying at school and doing work we got to go to different places and do fun activities. It was really fun and great.

Unfortunately I had to miss the last day of EOTC week cause I had to go to centrals. The one I enjoyed the most was Ice Skating. The year fours got to join us for that one day too. 

At first it was kind of bad but I got better. I even taught how to skate another person too.

Descriptive writing

Hi Guys welcome to my blog,

How are you?

On 20th of November Fire Jess came and teached our class for the day. She taught us a little different from Miss Scott. While we were with her for writing we wrote an description about Lisa Simpson trying to show not tell. Do you know who Lisa Simpson is? Do you know the phrase Show not tell? Would you like to see what I wrote?

If yes, here is a paragraph I wrote about her face

1st Paragraph - describe her face/head

Lisa had circle shaped eyes the colour of a black screen surrounded by the white choclatey ocean. Her hair was like a spiky hedgehog and her eyelashes were the colour of dark chocolate the size of little sticks. Tiny ears popped out of the sides of her big star shaped head. She had a big nice grin on her face.

100 Word Count

Hello everybody,

Last week we had a reading activity called 100 word count. If you do not know every week my class get's a word or sentence and write a story with that word or sentence. Last week we had the word Red. Would you like to see my story

RED

 There once was a boy called Hentin. He went out  to play in the woods. Hentin saw a girl there with long lovely hair he reached out to her and fell. Red blood was everywhere Hinton was in pain and could not get up. The girl rushed to the rescue and took Hentin to her house. Her name was Manita and years went passed as Hentin and Mantina became best friends. After 11 years they became lovers and got married and had children. Hentin was happy and glad he met Mantina. They lived happily ever after together with their family.

The Flower Festival

Spanish

Hello Everyone, 

Welcome to my blog. For topic this term my class is learning about the Spanish language. We learnt how to say greetings and polite words in Spanish. Like for example Hola or Hasta Luego which in English means Hello and See you later. 

Our class has also learnt how to count, say school objects in Spanish  and say the colours in Spanish. We also played a fun game where our teacher Miss Preston who grew up talking in Spanish says words in Spanish and we guess the word in English.

Canterbury Swim School

Hello Everybody,

It is the first week of this term. I am glad to be blogging to you again. My class Room 7 has been going to Canterbury swim school to learn how to swim. 

After morning tea we go on a bus to get there with Room one our buddy class and swim together.  Before we get on the bus we need to put on our togs underneath our uniform. My group is Me and 4 other people.

On the 19th of September last night it was the Fia Fia night. Our school went too and had a fun time. there were lot's of different schools there. Athletics

Hi everyone,

On the 20th of September friday me our school started doing Athletics. Including High Jump, Long Jump, Shot put, Long distance, Discus and Sprint. Out of all of them my favourite activity Discus. So now every friday we will be dong Athletics if it is not raining.  Last year I went for athletics and had lot's of fun so I am looking forward to this year.

Disco!

At night the 20th of September the my school will be having a school disco. Each year our school has one school Disco. One of my classmates dad is the DJ who is preparing for it. 

I am not going but I will have my own Disco at home. Anyway lot's of people in my school have already payed for it and are getting a goody bag. In the goody bags there are glow sticks, snacks and more.

It all started on a nice day. John Smith and his mate Franklin Brown were in high school and they thought about what they would do in the future as a job. Thinking for a while John Smith knew it he wanted to become a photographer and go around taking photos around the world and explore. Franklin wanted to do the same job too. Years past as John and Franklin grew closer and one day they decided to go to SA, Australia and they took their last photo capturing the beautiful moonlit sky and died on 2019 together with a smile.

Duffy Assmbly

Hello Readers,

How are you doing today?

On Friday the 13th of September we had a Duffy Assembly. We had a visitor come and talk to us about the forests and the beautiful native creatures. The visitor was a lady. 

Also talked about the creatures hurting the  endemic animals that live here and it was our fault. For example pests like Possums, Ferrets, different types of Rats and more. 

Anyway our school got to have 2 Duffy books each. The books I got were Tom Gates and Baby Sitters Club.

The End Of Winter Sport

For this blog post it will be about Limericks. Limericks is a type of Irish poem. It has rhyming pattern in AABBA and 5 lines long. 1st 2nd and 5th line are the same syllables. 3rd and 4th line is the same number of syllables but a little bit shorter.

Centrals

Hi Everybody,

On Thursday the 23rd of August me and my team went to centrals. If you did not know I have changed from Sapphires to Diamonds and went to zones and made it to centrals. We did not make it to the finals but we came 7th place out of 15 teams. It was really fun for me and I enjoyed supporting others on the side line and being defence.

Cybersmart Digital Footprint

For today's blog post I will be telling you about Cybersmart. On Monday the 19th of August  we learnt about our digital footprint. Our Digital Footprint grows bigger every time you go online. It is not like real foot print you can't clean it up.

For Writing in my class we have been learning about poems. We created a English version of a Japanese Haiku. This means on our first line it had to be 5 syllables then on the second line it is 7 syllables the one the third line it is back to 5 syllables.
