Hands on Fire

 Aim: 

I want to find out light my hands on fire SAFELY

Method:

Equipment

• Lighter
• Water
• Gas
• Tray
• Hose
• Liquid Soap
• Safety Glasses

Instructions

1. Get the Equipment ready
2. Fill the tray with water
3. Squirt the liquid soap into the water and mix it it around
4. Connect the hose to the gas tap
5. Turn the gas on
6. Make bubbles of gas
7. Wear your safety glasses
8. Wet your hands and arms with water (If you have fire in your hands your hands will burn)
9. Scoop the bubbles with both hands from the tray
10. Take two steps from the tray
11. Hold the bubbles as far away from your face as possible (Hold steady in front of your face)
    
    
    
12. Light the bubbles on fire
13. Don't PANIC! and slowly open your hands
14. (LIKE THIS)

Results

I saw... the fire emerge and disappear. It was bright red and yellowy orange. It went straight up and dissipated when I put my hands out.

I heard... other people being loud and somehow the sound of the fire getting burned.

I smelt...the heat from the fire. It smelt burnt and gassy. Even when the fire went away the smell remained.

I felt... excited and nervous. My heart was beating so fast. It was great and so much fun.

Safety in the Lab

           Hola viewers,

1. Liquids do not go in the bin because it could leak out of the bin or be to heavy for the cleaner to take and make a hole.
2.  Solids do not go down the sink because it could block the sink or pollute the water.
3. Wear safety glasses when you do experiments because dangerous stuff like chemicals or fire could get in your eyes.
4. Put your chair under the desk, and stand at the bench when you do experiments because its better to do that.
5. Bags do not go on desks because chemicals or stuff like that could get inside your bag.
6. Long hair should be tied back because it could be caught on fire and you could become bald.
7. Do not smell the chemicals because all the chemicals would get in your lungs and you could pass out.
8. Walk, do not run around the room because you could trip over and hit some chemicals or break your arms 
9. Do not eat or drink in the lab because you could swallow germs and poison yourself.

Fire will make the metal get very hot and will burn the table

In Hurumanu One we have been learning about heroes in articles. We read about different people and learned about them. Then we decided to write our own article. We had to learn how to write one and what it needs. It didn't need to be true since it was our own writing it just needed a hero

5 day old baby thrown from window luckly caught by a man

Early Friday morning a five day old baby is thrown out the window of a hospital. Luckily a man is

walking by and catches the falling baby. He safely returns the baby back to it’s mother and is

thanked very much. 

Later that day security videos show a nurse throwing out the child. Immediately the nurse is arrested

for kidnapping and attempted murder. 

“It was like the baby was falling from the sky. Luckily I could catch him in time,” the man who caught the

baby said. 

Mother was traumatised and surprised by this event and relieved that her baby did not suffer any

injuries. “I am so glad my baby is alright but I didn't know that the nurse would do that,” the mother

of the child said. 

The mother now keeps her baby by her side 24/7 and is safe in the hospital with her family.

The Black Robin

Kon'nichiwa,

For drama class we have been creating bird masks. First we had to find a bird we liked. I wanted to make a robin mask when I first saw it. Next plan on how we want to make our mask. I made my plan with Riley since I didn't have my Chromebook then. After that we had to draw our masks. Finally we make them. To make my mask I used a paper bag and other stuff.

 Hola everybody,

Do you know how to play the ukulele?

In counting the beat we have been learning about different instruments and music. Like the guitar and orchestra for example. This time we are learning about the ukulele's. 

Did you know ukuleles come in different sizes and shapes?. The most common one that most people know is the Soprano but the truth is there's more. Like the Baritone, Concert and Tenor.

 Also there are different types of ukuleles like the Banjo, Guileless, Bass ukulele, Acoustic electric ukulele, electric Ukulele, Resonator ukulele and more.

Also the parts of the body of the ukulele is similar to that of a guitars. But theirs is much easier because there's not much.

Used to make adjust strings tension and basically make it sound how you like

Fret Markers

They mark off specific frets to show neck position to the person playing

A ring around sound hole to reinforce and decorate.

Orchestra

 Bonjour à tous,

In hurmanu two we have been learning about music. This time we are getting to know about the orchestra. An orchestra is a group of instruments mixed together. Most of the time they play classical. They are made up of four families Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, and Percussion. 

String Family

The string family is the largest family. It's called the string family because it uses its strings to make sound. The violin, viola, cello, the double bass, sometimes called the contra bass are all in the orchestra and part of the string family.

Woodwind

Woodwinds family uses the highest sounding instruments to the lowest sounding instruments. They are instruments you blow into. The piccolo, flute, oboe, English horn, clarinet, E-flat clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon and contrabassoon are all in the woodwinds family.

Brass Family

The brass family includes instruments you blow into also. They vibrate in the air. Trumpets, trombones, French horns, euphonious, and tubas are part of the brass family and used in the orchestra.

 

Percussion

Percussion family are made up of the most common instruments in the orchestra. The Timpani, xylophone, cymbals, triangle, snare drum, bass drum, tambourine, maracas, gongs, chimes, celesta, and piano are in the percussion family.
